Giants in the City in Bayfront Park – Miami, FL

//

I have been so busy with client work lately that one of the few events I was able to attend during Art Week was the spectacular Giants in the City inflatable sculpture exhibit at Bayfront Park in Miami curated by Alejandro Mendoza and organized by Project Director Noor Blazekovic of IRREVERSIBLE Magazine.

It was difficult shooting the opening reception of this event because I lost daylight very quickly.  I decided to use a long exposure instead of a flash on the sculptures to retain the vibrant colors.

I’ve marked each of the sculptures and their artists where I had information and they included: Milk by the Giants in the City founding artist Alejandro Mendoza; Miami artist Miguel Rodez;  La Bañista by Astolfo FunesTrapped Cloud – A socially interactive art piece which is a collaboration between David Elgena, Giselle Delgado, Katy Stallfus, Brian Perez and Brian Buck (this one you really should check out.  This art team created a website just for the one piece of art.  Click on Trapped Cloud.); Un Cuernazo  Genera Cuernitos by Maximo Caminero; Upcycled Sculpture by Miami artist Lucinda Linderman; The Anti Art-Man by Mariano Costa Peuser; The Breast Project by Miguel Fleitas; I am a Monkey by Luis Delgado; God Save the Queen by Blanca Caraballo; El Brujo by Frank Hyder; Here I Am by Yovani Bauta; VW by Martin Kaupp; Sandra Garcia-Pardo.

A big thank you goes to two of the sponsors that evening: Emilio Guerra, regional manager of Dreyfus Ashby & Co was serving some excellent Spanish wine and SVEDKA vodka.
