Bogotá Colombia Photography – May 1st International Workers’ Day Demonstration

This is the first in a series of photos I took during my recent 9-day trip to Colombia.  I began this photography tour with two days in Bogotá, a massive capital of nine million people (yes, it’s bigger than New York City).  I just happened to arrive the day before the year’s largest annual labour...

Jamaican Comedian Rohan Gunter in Miami

One of the aspects that I love about being a photographer is that I meet the most interesting people.  I recently was hired to photograph a wedding at the Palmetto Bay Village Center and the couple had hired Jamaican comedian Rohan Gunter to perform during the dinner hour.  What a show it was!  He literally...

The Commodore Trail – a beautiful trail created for bicycles & pedestrians but dominated by cars & trucks

Have you heard of the Commodore Trail?  It is a wonderful multi-use County trail that goes through the heart of Coconut Grove and is one of the reasons why I moved here.  It really is a beautiful trail used by hundreds of people daily.   As an avid recreational and transportation bicyclist, I use...

Tammy - Yes, this is a problem. I live in Palmetto Bay and we have the same issues on our bike path that runs from 88th along Red and then Old Cutler into Cutler Ridge. I love to bike this and constantly find golf carts, landscapers and delivery trucks parked right in the middle. I often try to educate them on the use of the bike path, even suggesting that they only park on half of it to allow us to get by.

I have sent many letters to the mayor of Palmetto Bay who always responds with a “diplomatic” answer.

I will say that I spend a lot of time in Sanibel Island and they have clearly marked the bike trail with painted bikes figures, signage, and enforcement. There is also a deeper level of respect for pedestrian and cyclist on the small island.

I think an inexpensive solution is to educate drives via painted figures on the trails, strategically places poles to prevent parking and of course enforcement.

Thank you for this article..

admin - Thanks Tammy for your comment!
