Miami Herald Art Critic Emeritus Helen Kohen meets with artists Pablo Cano & Robert McKnight

Last night I had the privilege of being invited to photograph a “walk through” with The Miami Herald art critic emeritus Helen L. Kohen and artists Pablo Cano and Robert McKnight.  The reception took place at the Farside Gallery in collaboration with the art @ work project and was sponsored and hosted by Dr. Arturo Mosquera. The evening started with an introduction by poet, art critic and collector Ricardo Pau-Llosa and by artist Glexis Novoa. Then Robert McKnight described his history and inspirations, “I used to struggle to paint…but I didn’t struggle with pieces of wood and other three-dimensional pieces.  I start with an idea…call it inner spirit like they do in jazz.”  And  Pablo Cano told the small group about his current work and upcoming exhibits and how this seemed like a homecoming having Helen Kohen there because she had written his first art critique nearly 30 years ago.
