I first met New York City street artist NOBODY about a year ago. I was touring some of the galleries during Wynwood’s 2nd Saturday art walk with my friend, arts enthusiast Myra Wexler (of Musing with Myra fame). Nobody was in Miami prepping some of his work for last year’s Art Basel Miami Beach. So, when I learned that NOBODY would be back in town this year for a couple of weeks, again prepping his work for this year’s Art Basel, I knew I wanted to do a portrait of him.
One week ago today, I spent the entire afternoon with him as he “did a wall” from start to finish. Not only did I get a few GREAT portraits, but I also learned some about his life. To learn more, go straight to NOBODY’s blog.
First of all, NOBODY’s true identity is hidden in the photos because in addition to doing legal street art, as shown in my photos, he also does some illegal graffiti. You’ll see that he is usually wearing a bandana printed with his motto “Art is my Weapon.” Not sure about the difference between “street art” and “graffiti”? I had to look it up also and you can view my definition here, when I photographed another street artist named DEXOS.
I also learned that NOBODY, also referred to as TMNK, is from the New York City area, was a professional photographer, lived in Paris, has 3 children and is fun to hang with.
To view this wall that he painted and is in my photos, go to NW 23rd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. The wall is on the north side of the street just about 200 feet west of Cafeina Lounge.
