Photography from “How to Art Basel Miami Beach” at Locust Projects in the Design District of Miami

Today I photographed the “How to Art Basel Miami Beach” event at Locust Projects in the Design District of Miami.  This well-run event was organized by Amy Rosenberg, founder and Executive Director of the Overtown Music Project, and the purpose was to educate attendees on how to navigate their way through the upcoming Art Basel Miami Beach in December.  To accomplish this, attendees rotated among eight different “mini-talks” by Art Basel experts including:  Stefanie Block Reed of Art Basel Miami Beach; Kathyrn and Dan Mikesell of The Fountainhead Residency; Silvia Karman Cubina of Bass Museum of Art; Bonnie Clearwater of Museum of Contemporary Art; Fred Snitzer of Fredric Snitzer Gallery; Adler Guerrier, artist featured in the Whitney Biennial; Chana Budgazad Sheldon, Director of Locust Projects; Rene Morales of Miami Art Museum; Alexandra Cunningham of Design Miami.

Some of the people I met and photographed included: Nathalie Cadet-James of Luxe Fête Event Planning and Design Studio; Eduardo & Pilar Carvajal;  Pat Shirkes and Richard Sklar; Shelly Collins and Amy Maliza; Gisela Mohring and Richard Vivero; WPLG Art Director Felicia Steiger and Editorial Content Provider Michelle Solomon; Caroline Travis;  Elite Kedan;  Nomade Gallery owner Brigitte Serfaty and Aleksandra Marcotte; Jessica Baraton and Jennifer Weinberg;  Stephanie Driscoll and Daniel Reinkopf; Stephanie Ferguson, Gordie Villalon and Maria Ferguson.   As I photographed people at the event, I asked them if they would like to include their favorite work of art in the photo.  Hands-down, the winning artist was Tracey Hagen and her beautiful photograph of the nude woman on the train tracks.  Also shown is sculpture by Emmett Moore. Bustelo Coffee sponsored the event and the wonderful brunch provided by Catering by Vivian.

The YouTube video shows the photos as low-resolution but you can view all of them here at a higher resolution:
